De Boers reunited at Rangers

Members

Frank de Boer has confirmed he is leaving Galatasaray SK to join his twin brother Ronald at Rangers FC.

Not part of plans
Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim told De Boer at the weekend that he was no longer part of his plans, a message he issued to other senior players at the club, including Bülent Korkmaz, Arif Erdem and Hakan Ünsal. Galatasaray are fifth in the Turkish Super League and failed to progress from the UEFA Champions League group stage.

'Fantastic news'
De Boer, who will miss out on UEFA Cup football with Galatasaray, told uefa.com he had agreed a deal with Rangers until the summer. The 33-year-old said: "Rangers coming in for me is fantastic news. Although I have only signed until the end of the season, I still feel I have another two or three years left at the highest level and I am very lucky a big club like Rangers have shown such faith in me."

Most capped player
De Boer is his country's most capped player, having made 108 appearances for the Netherlands. A first choice during UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying, he hopes regular football with Rangers will cement his place in the Dutch squad in Portugal, after he struggled for form in Turkey.

Dutch connection
He should have no problems settling in at Ibrox where Netherlands coach Dick Advocaat established a strong Dutch influence during his time as Rangers manager. In addition to his brother, De Boer will link up with compatriots Michael Mols and Fernando Ricksen, while first-team coach Jan Wouters also played for the Netherlands.
