Inter fall back after defeat

Members

FC Internazionale suffered an away defeat at the weekend while AS Roma returned to winning ways.

Fantastic Filippini
Emanuele Filippini's solitary goal four minutes before half-time was enough to take Parma up to fifth, the forward slotting into an unguarded net after a mix-up between Inter defender Javier Zanetti and goalkeeper Francesco Toldo.

Sparkling volley
The defeat meant Inter lost ground on leaders AS Roma, who beat AC Perugia 1-0 away from home on Sunday. The capital club bounced back from their midweek defeat against AC Milan with the slender victory, secured by Brazilian Mancini's sparkling volley three minutes into the game.

Brazilian connection
Milan sit three points behind after their own Brazilian, Kaka, scored twice in a 3-1 win against Reggina Calcio. But Carlo Ancelotti's side had to come from behind after Stefano Torrisi scored for the visitors with just 60 seconds on the clock. Kaka's double swung the game in Milan's favour - he levelled with a fine solo effort and scored a more fortuitous second when Andrea Sotti's clearance rebounded off him into the Reggina net. Andrea Pirlo's penalty after Kaka had been felled completed the scoring.

Clinical Conte
Antonio Conte's clinical, close-range finish gave Juventus FC a 2-1 win against UC Sampdoria in Genoa. The midfield player converted a back-heel from Pavel Nedved to add to Mauro Camoranesi's first-half header, which had been cancelled out by Francesco Flachi. Milan have a game in hand on the champions.

Basement battles
At the other end of the table, two goals inside five second-half minutes led to Empoli FC climbing off the foot with a
2-0 win against Ancona Calcio. Antonio Di Natale and Ighli Vannucchi were the goalscorers to sink Ancona, who replaced Empoli at the bottom. Elsewhere, Bologna FC pulled away from the drop zone with a 2-1 win against US Lecce, who remain 16th.

Lazio stunned
In the weekend's other games, S.S. Lazio suffered a 1-0 home reverse against Brescia Calcio, whose goal was scored by Luigi Di Biagio. AC Chievo Verona drew 0-0 with Udinese Calcio and AC Siena strolled to a magnificent 4-0 win against fellow mid-table outfit Modena FC, who had Paolo Ponzo sent off.
