News round-up: TSV 1860 München have signed midfield player Gerhard Poschner on a free transfer.

Summer talks
Poschner's contract will run until June 2005, but 1860 sporting director Dirk Dufner said that the club would review the situation in June: "At the end of the season we will sit down and see if we want to continue or not."

Leeds earn reprieve
Leeds United AFC have staved off the immediate threat of administration after agreeing with creditors to a one-week extension to find funding. The Yorkshire club, who sit bottom of the Premiership, originally had until today to reach a deal with their creditors, who are owed around €115m. Meanwhile, Arsenal FC have allowed winger Jermaine Pennant to stay on loan at the club for another month.

Moore injury
Staying in England, Aston Villa FC striker Stefan Moore faces a lengthy lay-off with an ankle injury sustained in training. The English Under-18 international had been expected to replace the injured Darius Vassell for Sunday's match against Arsenal. Villa manager David O'Leary said: "He could be out for several weeks."

Polonia rescued by owner
Unlike Leeds, money troubles could be a thing of the past for Polish side KP Polonia Warszawa, who have a new owner. Polonia won the league title in 2000, but failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League hit the club's finances. Many of their best players were sold and Polonia were put up for sale a year ago by owner Janusz Romanowski.

Seeking a sponsor
The new owners claim to have enough money to keep Polonia going for two years and are seeking a major sponsor to ensure the club's long-term survival. But Polonia's first battle is against relegation. After the first half of the season they are fourth from bottom in the Ekstraklasa.

Murcia buy again
Another team fighting relegation are Spain's Real Murcia CF, who have signed Ecuadorian international striker Carlos Juárez from SC Emelec. The 32-year-old was voted best player in his domestic league in 1993, 1996 and 1998, and is the fourth player to join Murcia during the transfer window following the arrivals of Roberto Bonano, Leonel Gancedo and Iván Hurtado.

Chievo signing
AC Chievo Verona have signed Brazilian defender Vinicio Cervo De Luca Cesar. The 24-year-old player arrives on a free transfer, having previously cancelled his contract with Fluminense FC.

Zwolle boost
Eredivisie bottom side FC Zwolle have signed Finnish international striker Paulus Roiha for the rest of this season. The 23-year-old moves from FC Utrecht where he did not fit into the plans of recently-appointed coach Foeke Booy. Roiha will fill in for Georgi Hristov, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
