Martin Jol will step down as RKC Waalwijk coach in the summer after more than five years in charge.

Martin Jol will step down as RKC Waalwijk coach at the end of the season.

European debut
Jol, who was appointed on 30 November 1998, saved the club from demotion in his first season via the relegation play-off. Alongside technical manager Marcel Brands, Jol has since steered them into mid-table stability and they earned their European debut in 2001 in the UEFA Intertoto Cup, where they reached the third round.

New challenge
However, he has now told Waalwijk that he is ready for a new challenge. A club statement said: "The board respects this decision. That is why Martin Jol and the board have agreed not to extend his contract and he will leave the club on 30 June 2004."
