Contract boost for Broos

Belgian league leaders RSC Anderlecht have extended coach Hugo Broos's contract by two years until 2006.

League leaders
Broos reached an agreement with club officials in Gran Canaria, where Anderlecht are preparing for the second half of the season. Although the Brussels club were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League before Christmas, they lead the Belgian first division by eight points after 17 matches.

Anderlecht stalwart
Broos, 51, was an Anderlecht stalwart during his playing days, making 350 league appearances between 1970 and 1983. He started his coaching career in 1988 at RWD Molenbeek before going on to Club Brugge KV, another former club, in 1991, where he won two league titles and two Belgian Cups. After a spell at R. Excelsior Mouscron, he became Anderlecht coach in June 2002.
