Club Atlético de Madrid have agreed new terms with striker Fernando Torres which will tie him to the club until 30 June 2008.
'Keen to continue'
"I wanted to stay on here and the club was keen for me to continue," Torres said at a press conference today. "This is a dream for me, it is what I wanted to happen. We agreed on almost everything right the way through the talks, my representatives saw that the issue was resolved well and quickly."
Spanish international
Atlético had been keen to sort out the matter as Torres's previous contract was due to expire in 2005. Torres has been a key component in Atlético's attack since scoring on his debut against Albacete Balompié in June 2001. The 19-year-old has scored nine goals in 13 league games this season and this year also broke into Iñaki Sáez's Spain squad.
