Blackburn Rovers FC's Scottish international Barry Ferguson will be out until next summer after sustaining a serious knee injury during his club's 1-0 win against Newcastle United FC in the Premiership on Sunday.
Broken kneecap
Ferguson, who joined Blackburn from Scottish Premier League champions Rangers FC for €10.8m in August, clashed with Welsh international Gary Speed during the first half and was carried off on a stretcher. "We've got the three points," said Blackburn manager Graeme Souness. "But the joy is tempered somewhat by the news about Barry. He has broken his kneecap and that will put him out for the rest of the season."
