Bulgarian international forward Dimitar Berbatov has signed a two-year contract extension with Bayer 04 Leverkusen that will keep him at the German club until 30 June 2007.
Scoring ratio
The 22-year-old striker, whose existing deal was due to expire in June 2005, joined Leverkusen for €2.5m in January 2001 from Bulgarian side PFC CSKA Sofia. He has subsequently scored 15 goals in 69 Bundesliga appearances.
Portugual beckons
Berbatov has already won 25 caps for his country, scoring 15 times, and is set to be a key figure in Bulgaria's campaign at UEFA EURO 2004™. Plamen Markov's side have been drawn alongside Sweden, Denmark and Italy in Group C.
