Lagerblom joins Bremen push

As they enter the winter break top of the Bundesliga, SV Werder Bremen have reinforced their squad with the signing of Finnish international midfield player Pekka Lagerblom from FC Lahti.

Contract until 2006
The 21-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year contract which will run until 30 June 2006. He joins on a free transfer and coach Thomas Schaaf is excited about his potential. "He is a very talented young player with an outstanding combination game and high intelligence," the Bremen coach said.

'Dream come true'
Lagerblom recently earned his first full caps for his country against Honduras and Costa Rica and will officially become a Bremen player on 1 January. "A dream has come true," he said. "Now I will give everything to establish myself at Werder." Bremen were last crowned German champions in 1992/93.
