Article body
Departure confirmed
The board imposed the penalty after Aybaba reportedly made several negative statements about the club's management. The coach has now decided to walk away from the job, with Trabzonspor director of football, Caner Çuvalcioglu, explaining: "He told us he does not have enough money to pay the fine." Assistant coaches Bahattin Günes, Timur Atalay and Alper Boguslu have also left their posts.
'It is futile'
Trabzonspor general secretary Yusuf Ziya Yilmaz said: "I have spoken to Aybaba and he will not reverse his decision. It is futile after this to put pressure on him. We have said our goodbyes." Aybaba was appointed in May 2002 and signed a one-year extension to his contract earlier this year.
Out of action
Meanwhile, Trabzonspor's Turkish Under-21 international Tayfun Cora could be sidelined for up to six months after suffering a serious ankle injury in training. The player sustained ligament damage as well as a fracture to the joint.
