Six-year reign
The 46-year-old has been at Örgryte for six years but has decided to move on and has signed a three-year contract. He will replace Aalborg's caretaker coach Søren Kusk on 1 January. The Swedish season is nearing its conclusion and Örgryte are destined for a mid-table finish.
Agreement reached
"We started out with a list of ten candidates," Aalborg director Tom Mathiesen said. "However, we soon reduced it to just two names: Erik and one of our ex-players, former Norway international Staale Solbakken. Staale then announced that he was no longer interested in the job but we had already decided that we wanted Erik, provided we could reach an agreement with him. Today I am happy to say that we could."
