Agro sever Efros ties

Members

Vitaliy Carmac has taken charge at Moldovan side FC Agro after the dismissal of coach Petru Efros.

Coaching change
Agro have opted for a change after losing their first eight games of the Moldovan Divizia Nationala season. The 44-year-old Carmac, who was Efros' assistant, has been given temporary control after spending last season in the playing squad as the team's third-choice goalkeeper.

Long association
Efros' dismissal ends a long association with the club he helped to found. The coach was club president as Agro became a regular fixture in the Moldovan top flight. A couple of years ago, he gave the presidency over to Ivan Taran as he broke his ties with the club. However, he returned as coach in May 2003, promising to secure a place in the UEFA Intertoto Cup - a promise that proved hollow as Agro finished sixth in a seven-team league.

Dreadful start
A dreadful start to the current campaign eventually forced the Agro directors to step in, although Efros had already admitted he would not be too upset if relieved of his duties. "If the board think it is necessary to fire me, I will understand the reason for that," he said. "This is a normal reaction given the circumstances."
