João Paulo de Campos has been named as the new coach of Georgian side FC Torpedo Kutaisi.

Brazilian replacement
The 49-year-old Brazilian has become Torpedo's third coach of the season, replacing temporary appointment Gela Kikaleishvili who took over following the resignation of Soso Pruidze. De Campos will be one of only two foreign coaches working in the Georgian league, along with FC Dinamo Tbilisi's Croatian coach Ivo Susak.

Full control
The Brazilian will take full control after this weekend's game at FC Dinamo Batumi, which De Campos and his fitness coach will watch from the stands. Torpedo lie in seventh place in the league after eleven rounds, nine points adrift of leaders Dinamo.

Torrid year
It has been a torrid year for foreign coaches in Georgia with Susak being the only one to have survived. Before the season, Ukrainian Alexandr Shtelin resigned at Torpedo and Italian Gianni Carnevali did the same at FC WIT-Georgia Tbilisi. More recently, Peruvian Luiz Zacharias was fired by FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi.
