Thern leaving Halmstad role

Swedish club Halmstads BK are to part company with coach Jonas Thern, as the Allsvenskan season approaches its conclusion.

No European place
The former Swedish international has not been sacked but is leaving for personal reasons, according to the club. Halmstad are sixth in the table, well clear of relegation but also out of the running for European qualification. With two games left to play, the highest Halmstad could finish would be fourth.

Sypniewski leaving
In the wake of Thern's departure, striker Igor Sypniewski will also leave as Halmstad seek to lower their average wage budget. The Polish forward moved to the club in February this year.
