Goal in each half
Second-placed Scotland began the game trailing Group 4 leaders - and newly-crowned world champions - Germany by three points but a goal in each half allowed the Czechs to climb to third place. Pavlina Scasna opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time, and Alexandra Mouchova clinched the victory 18 minutes from the end.
Portugal trip
Now only two points behind Scotland with a game in hand, the Czech Republic can move into second by winning in Portugal on 6 December, just over three weeks after Germany recommence their campaign with a home match against the Portuguese. Scotland's next fixture is in Ukraine on 10 April 2004.
