Poor start
The promoted club are bottom of Serie A, having taken just one point from their first four games. Sonetti, 62, was without a club after leaving second-division US Città di Palermo at the end of last season.
Plenty of experience
During his coaching career, the experienced Sonetti has gained five promotions from Serie B with Atalanta BC, Ascoli Calcio, Udinese Calcio, Brescia Calcio and US Lecce. He has taken charge of more than 800 matches in professional football.
Udinese test
His first game with Ancona will be at home to Udinese on Sunday. Ancona's only point so far came in a 1-1 draw against Modena FC on 20 September.
