Porto up to second
Porto's win moved them into second place, two points behind the leaders but ahead of Boavista FC on goal difference. Sporting drop to sixth place behind CD Nacional Madeira and SC Braga - all on six points.
Derlei opens scoring
Brazilian striker Derlei opened the scoring for Porto in the third minute when he headed in a cross from defender Paulo Ferreira. Porto doubled their advantage in the 51st minute when Lithuanian striker Edgaras Jankauskas converted from close range after a goalmouth scramble.
Maniche makes it three
Midfielder Maniche's 25-metre shot made it 3-0 after 65 minutes and although Sporting's Fabio Rochemback scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 80th minute with a well-taken free kick, Benni McCarthy restored the home side's three-goal cushion with a penalty a minute from time.
