Fourth arrival
The left-sided midfield player has agreed a two-year contract after the expiry of his deal with Espanyol on 31 July. Roger, 26, spent four years with Espanyol, having previously played for FC Barcelona. He becomes Villarreal's fourth summer signing, after the arrivals of Brazilian striker Sonny Anderson from Olympique Lyonnais and AC Milan pair José Mari and Fabricio Coloccini, the latter on loan.
Final signing
Villarreal coach Benito Floro said Roger's arrival was likely to be the last before the transfer deadline. His side welcome Czech opponents 1. FC Brno to Villarreal on Wednesday for the second leg of their Intertoto Cup semi-final, with the score currently 1-1.
