Roussel delighted with Genk deal

Members

Striker Cédric Roussel has finally left Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and signed for Belgian side KRC Genk.

Roussel agreement
The 25-year-old forward reached an agreement with Genk several weeks ago, but until yesterday a fee had not been agreed with his English club Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

Settlement reached
However, a settlement has now been reached and Roussel has signed a three-year contract with an option for a further season with the 2001/02 Belgian champions. "I would like to thank Wolves," Roussel said. "They have worked hard to make this happen and I wish them well in the future."

Sonck replacement
Roussel, who was on loan at R. AEC Mons last season, finished as the Belgian league's joint top scorer alongside Wesley Sonck with 22 goals. Sonck has now departed Genk for AFC Ajax and the club will hope that Roussel, who recently won his first cap for Belgium, settles in quickly as his replacement.

Dagano leaves
Meanwhile, Burkina Faso forward Moumouni Dagano is also set to leave Genk for French side En Avant Guingamp. The 22-year-old registered 16 goals last season. Paul Kpaka, a recent signing from KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen, is therefore expected to partner Roussel in the club's new-look attack next season.
