Forward Jorge López Marco, or Tote, and goalkeeper Pedro Contreras have signed for Real Betis Balompié.

Real Betis Balompié have strengthened their squad with two free transfer signings.

Five-year deal
Forward Jorge López Marco, or Tote as he is better known, has bought out his contract with Real Madrid CF and agreed a five-year deal with Betis. The Seville club have also secured the signing of goalkeeper Pedro Contreras after his contract with Málaga CF expired.

Deal concluded
The 24-year-old Tote concluded his deal yesterday and is expected to compete with Fernando Fernández and Daniel 'Dani' Martín for a place in the Betis first team. A Madrid player since he was a youngster, opportunities for Tote at the Santiago Bernabéu were severely limited.

Competition for jersey
Contreras, another former Madrid player, was one of Spain's three goalkeepers at the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals. He will compete with Toni Prats for the No1 jersey at Betis. Prats said: "This will create competition for places and that is good."
