Gap narrows
Second-placed FK Shafa took full advantage, defeating FK MOIK Baku 3-0 at home to close the gap at the top. Sanan Gurbanov opened the scoring after 34 minutes and second-half strikes from Murad Agakishiev and Fagan Shahbazov sealed the result.
Neftchi closing in
FK Neftchi also stayed in touch at the top with a 3-1 win at home to local rivals FK Adliyye. Agil Mamedov, Ismayil Mamedov and second-half substitute Sabuhi Sadygov scored for the home side, with Afgan Talybov's strike all the away team could muster.
Narrow wins
FK Khazar Sumgavit were 2-1 winners at home against FK Shahdag Gusar, while a single goal from defender Anar Veliyev was enough for FK Khazar Universiteti away to FK Dinamo-Bakili. At the bottom of the table, FK Dinamo Baku earned a first league victory of the season, 4-1 at FK Kapaz.
