Salas seals River return

Chilean striker Marcelo Salas has left Juventus FC to rejoin Argentinian club CA River Plate on loan.

Career high
Salas, who has two years remaining on his Juventus contract, has reportedly taken a huge pay cut to return to the Argentinian club. "It is what I was looking for," the 28-year-old former CF Universidad de Chile player said. "I will join up with them next week and start training at River, which is where I had the best moments of my career."

Scoring success
Salas scored 24 goals in 53 appearances for the Buenos Aires side before he moved to Europe and S.S. Lazio in 1998. A huge success in Rome, Salas signed for Juventus in the summer of 2001 but his two campaigns in Turin were punctuated by injury. River president José María Aguilar broke the news of the transfer to the Argentinian press on Thursday.
