Ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie with FC Skonto, Malta and Sliema Wanderers FC captain Noel Turner has been officially presented with the Maltese Footballer of the Year bronze statuette.
Title triumph
The 28-year-old midfield player was given the trophy at the annual awards ceremony held by the Malta Football Association (MFA) at the National stadium. Dr. Joseph Mifsud, president of the MFA, handed over the award to Turner, who led Sliema to the Maltese Premier League title last season after an absence of six years.
'So delighted'
"I am so delighted to have won this great award for the second time in my career," said Turner, who has won 54 international caps for Malta. "I dedicate this award to everyone at Sliema, and to my family."
Unfamiliar surroundings
The Maltese champions will take on Skonto at the Hibernians Ground, having opted to switch the first leg from the National stadium for financial reasons.
