The 37-year-old former Italy international signed a one-year contract and will replace Cristian Lupatelli, who joined AS Roma last week after wearing Chievo's No.1 jersey in the last two seasons. Marchegiani, who has played nine times for Italy, leaves Lazio after ten seasons with the last three campaigns spent as second choice behind Angelo Peruzzi.

Chievo failed to qualify for the UEFA Cup after finishing seventh in Serie A.
