FC Zwolle beat FC Den Bosch while FC Volendam overcame BVO Emmen in Friday's Dutch play-off matches.

FC Zwolle took a big step towards retaining their Eredivisie status by beating FC Den Bosch 2-0 on Friday night.

Roelofsen double
Richard Roelofsen scored both goals as the home team secured a win which carried them above their opponents, taking them top of promotion/relegation Group A. In the group's other game, Go Ahead Eagles beat Helmond Sport 5-0 with Hubert Dijk hitting a hat-trick. Further goals from Niels Wellenberg and Ugur Yildirim completed the confidence-boosting win and Eagles are now second in the group.

Volendam on top
In Group B, meanwhile, FC Volendam recorded their second consecutive victory, 2-0 against BVO Emmen despite finishing the game with ten men. Reginald Faria scored one of the goals but was also sent off with two minutes remaining. Maurice Buys also scored as Volendam climbed clear at the top of the section.

Two sent off
SC Excelsior, meanwhile, had two players sent off as they lost 2-1 to Heracles Almelo. Brian Pinas and Danny Buijs both received their marching orders in the second half as Excelsior chased an equaliser after pulling a goal back through Mounir El Hamdaoui. But in the end Rik Platvoet and Rachid Tibari’s goals were enough to win the game and move Heracles Almelo into second place behind Volendam.
