Todi Jónsson has extended his contract with Superligaen side FC København for another two years.

Unexpected decision
The Faroe Islands striker had been expected to leave the club, as previous contract negotiations had broken down over his wages demands and Jónsson had been expelled from the FCK squad as the Danish season resumed after its midwinter break. However, FCK began in faltering fashion and conceded a nine-point lead to champions Brøndby IF, leading to Jónsson being recalled to the squad, and the forward immediately made his presence felt, scoring a number of important goals.

'Very content'
Contract talks were promptly reopened, leading to Jónsson signing a new deal. "I realise that football is a risky business these days, and therefore I am very content to be able to stay at this club for two more years," Jónsson said.

Narrow advantage
FCK currently hold a two-point lead at the top of the table, and travel to Esbjerg FB on Saturday.
