Faber frustration for PSV

Members

PSV Eindhoven defender Ernest Faber has been ruled out of the club's Dutch title run-in with a heel injury.

Achilles woe
Centre-back Faber is to undergo surgery on an achilles problem this week and will miss PSV's two remaining matches, against FC Utrecht on Sunday and FC Groningen on 29 May. The club are yet to indicate the length of the recovery period needed, but Faber's absence at such a crucial stage of the campaign will be a blow.

Injury jinx
Faber, 31, suffered the injury in the 2-2 home draw against AZ Alkmaar on 3 May, having already broken a bone in his hand the previous week against De Graafschap. He becomes the fourth PSV defender to be operated on this season following earlier injuries to Wilfred Bouma, Kevin Hofland and Kasper Bøgelund.

Rotterdam defeat
Danish international Bøgelund returned to the side for Sunday's 3-1 defeat by Feyenoord in Rotterdam which left PSV just three points clear of AFC Ajax, and four of Feyenoord, in the Eredivisie title race.
