FC Sheriff Tiraspol missed the chance to secure the Divizia Nationala title as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at third-placed FC Nistru Otaci.

Narrow victory
The defending champions began knowing that a victory would wrap up the championship, but they were denied by a goal from Lilian Popescu nine minutes before half-time.

Comfortable win
Second-placed FC Zimbru Chisinau, who play Sheriff next on 16 May, recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory against FC Politechnica Chisinau, who face a relegation play-off with the side which finishes second in the second division.

Quick goals
Zimbru's Vladimir Shishelov broke the deadlock after 26 minutes, before Dumitru Gusila added another six minutes past the hour, and substitute Viorel Frunza then scored two goals in two minutes, with Lilian Golban scoring a last-minute consolation goal for the visitors.

Significant victory
FC Tiraspol faced FC Dacia Chisinau in a game that had significant bearing on determining which side finished fourth and claimed a place in the UEFA Intertoto Cup for next season. Dacia earned a 3-0 victory, with Andrei Martin opening the scoring in the sixth minute, before second-half strikes from Vladimir Japalau and Alexandr Golban sealed an important win.
