Article body
Romano Denneboom has extended his contract at SC Heerenveen until the summer of 2006.
Improved deal
The 22-year-old striker, who has attracted the interest of other leading Dutch clubs, had a contract that was due to expire next summer but the club were keen for him to sign an improved deal for fear of losing him on a free transfer in a year's time.
'Fantastic club'
"Heerenveen is a fantastic club," Denneboom, the club's top scorer this season, said. "I am very glad to sign an improved contract especially when you realise I have only been a regular player [in the first team] for one season now.”
Full season
Denneboom, a product of Heerenveen's youth system, made his first-team debut in 1999 and has gone on to make 106 appearances and score 22 goals. He started this season as a central striker, but recently has been playing on the left wing for the mid-table club. He has featured in all 30 of Heerenveen's matches this campaign, scoring nine times.
