Croatian football is mourning the death of three footballers following a car accident in the early hours of this morning.

Team-mates killed
NK Dinamo Zagreb's Silvestar Sabolcki and the NK Varteks pair of Krunoslav Sabolic and Kristijan Kitner were all killed after the car they were travelling in went out of control at 3.45am in a suburb of Varazdin, a city in central Croatia. Sabolcki, who only joined Dinamo from Varteks earlier this week, was driving the vehicle.

Due to be married
Sabolcki, 24, had just signed a four-year contract with the capital club and was due to be married on 21 July. The defender had won two caps for Croatia. Sabolic, 24, and Kitner, 21, were both goalkeepers at Varteks. A club spokesman said: "This is a tragedy for all of us, for the club, for all of Varazdin. The emotions are still high."
