FK Bakili Baku have been promoted to the new Azerbaijani league, which has just begun a new season, after the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan voted for 14 clubs to be included.
'More matches, the better'
It was decided that Bakili should be promoted to the top flight as the club finished third last season in the second division. Commenting on Bakili's promotion, Togrul Gadzhiyev, who is vice-president of the AFFA, told uefa.com: "I want football to be played in all the regions of Azerbaijan. If it is necessary, I will even vote for 24 teams in the top flight. The more matches that are played, the bigger benefit to our football."
Sunday debut
Bakili will make their debut in the top flight on Sunday against FK Karabakh-Azersun and after that they will visit FK Lokomotiv Imishli in a postponed game from the first round.
