Sliema Wanderers FC will meet holders Birkirkara FC in the Maltese Trophy final.

Sliema Wanderers FC cruised into the final of the Maltese Trophy by defeating Hibernians FC 5-2 in extra time.

Late equaliser
Edward Aquilina's side, who have already deposed Hibernians as league champions this season, took the lead through Danilo Doncic on 23 minutes. Hibernians drew level through Nigerian Essien Mbong two minutes into the second half, but with 20 minutes left Doncic restored Sliema's lead. However, Hibernians won an 88th-minute penalty and Cesar Paiber converted to ensure the added half-hour.

Doncic scores his fourth
That was the cue for Doncic to take over, and on 109 minutes he completed his hat-trick. Just six minutes later the same player scored his and Sliema's fourth, with Orosco Anoman completing the victory to sent the champions into Thursday's final.

Birkarkara in final
There they will face holders Birkirkara FC, who beat Floriana FC 4-1. Matthew Calascione claimed a hat-trick for league runners-up Birkirkara, opening the scoring in the 25th minute. Michael Galea made it 2-0 four minutes after the break, and Calascione scored his second with a delicate chip on 68 minutes.

Calascione secures treble
Birkirkara goalkeeper Justin Haber saved Jean-Pierre Mifsud Triganza's penalty not long afterwards, and Calascione's treble was secured in the 80th minute. Mifsud Triganza made up for his penalty miss with a late consolation for Floriana.
