Royal disapproval
Ajax's Romanian international was suspended for three games after aiming a blow at a Feyenoord player during the ill-tempered Dutch Cup semi-final between the sides on 16 April. However, the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) today cut the ban to two games with the third match of the penalty suspended.
Final decision
A KNVB statement said: "The appeals committee has decided to award Cristian Chivu a suspension of three matches, one of which is provisional. The sentence will take effect immediately and there is no option left to appeal against this."
