Prieto to say goodbye to Sevilla

Sevilla FC are to part company with captain José Miguel Prieto Castillo at the end of the season ending a 13-year association.

Knee trouble
The central defender has endured a torrid time with a lingering knee injury but was hopeful that he would be offered a new contract. However, that has failed to materialise, as has a contract to stay on in a coaching capacity, reportedly agreed with the club's previous president.

Loyal servant
Despite his disappointment at seeing his time at the club draw to a close, Prieto said: "I will never speak badly of Sevilla." The 31-year-old had been a loyal servant for the club and shown no sign of slowing down before this season's woes, playing 24 matches in 2000/01 and 17 games in 2001/02.
