Austria round-up: GAK on course

Grazer AK remain a point ahead of SK Austria Salzburg in the race for a UEFA Champions League place.

Grazer AK remain a point ahead of SK Austria Salzburg in the race for the second UEFA Champions League place in the Austrian Bundesliga behind FK Austria Wien after both secured away wins.

GAK comeback
Second-placed GAK came from behind to beat SV Ried 3-1. Zeljko Radovic gave the hosts the lead on 14 minutes before he was dismissed shortly after Martin Amerhauser had equalised five minutes later. Goals either side of half-time by Benedict Akwuegbu and René Aufhauser ensured new Ried coach Klaus Roitinger made a losing start, and his side also had Boban Dmitrovic sent off two minutes from the end. Ried are now only six points clear of last place.

Comfortable win
Salzburg, who received a professional license for next season last week, continued their good run with a 3-0 win at Austrian Cup finalists FC Kärnten. Heimo Pfeifenberger gave the visitors the lead on 30 minutes and Thomas Eder and Dominic Hassler added second-half goals.

Admira move away
SK Rapid Wien held city rivals FK Austria Wien to a 0-0 draw in the 233rd Vienna derby, while VfB Admira Wacker Mödling moved five points away from bottom side Schwarz-Weiss Bregenz with a 1-0 win against SV Pasching, whose Champions League hopes have now faded. Markus Katzer's last-minute strike combined with Bregenz's 1-1 draw against SK Sturm Graz to leave the basement team close to relegation with only two games to go.
