Article summary
FK Viktoria Zizkov earned a place in the UEFA Cup thanks to a 1-1 draw at home to FC Baník Ostrava.
Article body
FK Viktoria Zizkov claimed a place in next season's UEFA Cup with a 1-1 draw at home to FC Baník Ostrava on the last day of the 1.Liga season.
Narrow margin
FC Slovan Liberec could also only draw, 1-1 at FC Príbram, meaning that the champions finished level with Viktoria Zizkov on 50 points, but Viktoria Zizkov took third position and a place in Europe by virtue of a superior head-to-head record.
Points shared
Maros Klimpl opened the scoring for Viktoria Zizkov, but Václav Svěrkos's strike gave the away side a draw. It mattered little, however, as midfield player Jirí Rychlík gave Príbram the lead with an 82nd-minute free-kick and Baffour Gyan's last-minute equaliser was not enough for Liberec.
Champions defeated
New champions AC Sparta Praha were defeated 2-1 at FC Zlín 2-1 despite taking the lead through substitute Tomás Jun. However, goals in the final eight minutes from Petr Novosad and Edvard Lasota turned the game in the home side's favour and meant Zlín became the only side to defeat Sparta twice this season.
Slavia success
Second-placed SK Slavia Praha were 2-0 winners at SK Sigma Olomouc, with Pavel Kuka scoring his 100th Czech league goal and Brazilian Evander Adauto also on target.
Winning farewell
Relegated SK Hradec Králové ended with a 2-1 victory against SK Ceské Budějovice, with Miroslav Zemánek scoring a last-minute winner, while Vladimir Majsniar twice, Petr Jirousek and Jirí Masek all found the net in FC Jablonec 97's 4-1 win against 1. FC Brno.
