Majewski arrival aids Panionios hopes

Panionios FC have announced the signing of Polish international Adam Majewski on two-year contract with an option for a further year.

Legia departure
The 30-year-old attacking midfield player arrives from Legia Warsawa, where he has played a total of 147 games over the last five years. He is expected to arrive in Athens next Wednesday, bolstering Panionios' squad as they prepare to play in next season's UEFA Cup having finished fifth in the Alpha Ethniki this season.

Contract strategy
Meanwhile, Panionios have also issued a statement, referring to a new strategy regarding players' contracts. "Our club calls upon Greek football players to come to terms with the financial crisis reigning in European football," it read. "Greek players must realise that times have changed and that their financial requests must be adapted to the new situation.

Appeal to pragmatism
"We must acknowledge that their foreign counterparts have already realised the changes in football economics and have adopted their requests accordingly," the statement continued. "If Greek players do not change their attitude, we fear that many of them will have a hard time finding a spot in Greek football. We apply to their sense of pragmatism and we hope that in time this situation will change."
