Article body
Happy draw
Former Porto midfielder Barroso scored the opening goal for Braga after 37 minutes, with a low shot from long range. However Porto forward Hélder Postiga, who was suspended for last week's 3-2 UEFA Cup final win against Celtic FC, drew his side level three minutes after the interval. Nevertheless, the draw for Jesualdo Ferreira's side moved them on to 38 points and means they can now breathe easily in their final game of the season against Associação Académica de Coimbra.
Alvalade farewell
Already relegated Vitória Setúbal won the last ever game at the old José Alvalade stadium, running out 4-3 victors against Sporting Clube de Portugal. A Meyong double as well as a strike from Jorginho and an own goal by Beto secured the result for the Setúbal side. Paulo Bento, João Pinto and Ricardo Quaresma scored for Sporting, with Quaresma the last player to score in an official game at the stadium.
Vital win
SC Beira-Mar took an important step towards safety with an away win at Vitória Guimarães. First-half goals from Areias and Fary secured the vital points. Meanwhile Moreirense FC lost 3-1 against CS Marítimo and are now level with Beira-Mar, two points away from the relegation zone.
Important points
Académica kept their survival hopes alive with a 3-0 win against fellow strugglers Varzim SC. Marinesco, André and Paulo Vida scored the goals that saw Académica, who occupy the final relegation place, close the gap on Varzim to just a point with one game remaining. CD Santa Clara are also just a point behind Varzim after a 3-1 win against FC Paços de Ferreira.
Monday match
On Monday, Boavista FC lost 1-0 at home against UD Leiria as Jaime Pacheco bade farewell to the Bessa stadium after five successful years as coach. In the round's other games, SL Benfica wrapped up an easy 2-0 win against Gil Vicente FC. Simão Sabrosa scored in the first half while Roger hit the net for the second time after 57 minutes. Finally, CF Os Belenenses and CD Nacional fought out a goalless draw.
Final games
The final games of the season take place on Sunday, with Santa Clara (34 points), Acádemica (34), Varzim (35), Beira-Mar (36)and Moreirense (36) all still in danger of filling the final two relegation places. Crucially Santa Clara face Varzim, while Acádemica play Braga, Beira-Mar host Marítimo and Moreirense are at home against Paços de Ferreira.
