Article body
Trond Sollied has signed a new three-year contract with Club Brugge KV.
Extension agreed
The Norwegian coach agreed in principle to extend his current contract, which expires at the end of the season, in February, but only signed this week after several technical details had been agreed with club president Dr Michel D'Hooghe.
'I was sure he would sign'
"I was sure that Trond would sign the contract," director Antoine Vanhove said. "Three months ago we had that verbal agreement, we shook hands and I knew that I could trust him. Why did it last so long? The lawyers just need time to finalise the papers. It was not more than that."
Successful career
Sollied arrived in Belgium in December 1998 having enjoyed success in Norway with FK Bodø/Glimt and Rosenborg BK. He joined Brugge from KAA Gent at the beginning of the 2000/01 season, and is confident he can guide the Belgian champions to more success.
'Better than ever'
"We will get better than ever, without all the injuries we got last season," he said "We have a great group [of players] and that will show in the [UEFA] Champions League."
