Squad player
Fortune was a surprise signing by Sir Alex Ferguson in August 1999, having failed to earn a regular first-team place at Club Atlético de Madrid. The midfield player has struggled with injuries since then but has become an important squad player who has made some timely contributions.
Ferguson delight
"We are delighted Quinton has agreed a new deal. He's been improving every year since he joined us and has shown great character to come back from various injury problems," Sir Alex told the club's website. "He has hopefully overcome them now and he's doing really well and we look forward to him making a great contribution to the team in the next three years."
'Fantastic' deal
Fortune, 26 later this month, said: "To be offered a new three-year deal is fantastic and I'm happy to be here at Manchester United. I can't wait for the new season to start."
