Article body
Christian Vieri's strike on Sunday night moved him six points clear at the top of the ESM Golden Shoe standings.
Prolific campaign
The Internazionale FC forward scored his side's first goal in their 3-3 draw with AS Roma and has now scored 24 goals in Serie A this season.
Beattie into second
Meanwhile, Southampton FC's James Beattie moved into second place in his own right, scoring his 21st goal of the season against West Ham United FC to move above RC Deportivo La Coruña's Roy Makaay, who failed to score.
Van Nistelrooij in form
The other big mover was Ruud van Nistelrooij, who followed his hat-trick in Manchester United FC's last Premiership game with two penalties against Liverpool FC. The Dutch international striker is joined on 34 points by Pauleta of FC Girondins de Bordeaux, who also has 17 league goals to his name.
Van Hooijdonk on target
Pierre van Hooijdonk moved into 12th place with a late winner for Feyenoord, while Thomas Christiansen, Nihat Kahveci, Cédric Roussel and Ole Martin Ârst were also among the goals.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have 2 as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.
A player cannot first play in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
