PSV grant Lee's birthday wish

Korean international Lee Young Pyo has marked his birthday by signing a three-year deal with PSV Eindhoven.

Korean international Lee Young Pyo is today enjoying a memorable 26th birthday after turning his six-month loan at PSV Eindhoven into a permanent three-year deal, which will begin on 1 July.

Former coach
Lee joined the Eredivise pacesetters on a six-month loan from Anyang Cheetahs in his homeland in January. Guus Hiddink, the coach of PSV, was well aware of Lee's talents long before he arrived in Eindhoven, having coached the midfield player during his time in charge of the Korean Republic.

Positive impact
Lee played five times under Hiddink at last summer's FIFA World Cup, where the Koreans became the first Asian nation to reach the semi-finals. His transfer will cost around €1.4m. Lee's international team-mate, Park Ji Sung, is already on PSV's books and the duo have made such an impact that PSV have established a 'Korean Guestbook' for readers of their official website to sign.

Lamey to return?
Meanwhile, PSV general manager Frank Arnesen has announced that Michael Lamey, the 22-year-old defender, is unlikely to stay on loan for another season at AZ Alkmaar. "It is true that we have met with AZ," said Arnesen, "but we cannot reach a financial agreement. That is why I don't think he will be at AZ next season."
