HNK Hajduk Split are on the verge of the Croatian Cup final after defeating NK Varteks 2-0.

Late breakthrough
In an unconvincing display, Hrvoje Vejic put Hajduk ahead after 70 minutes, before Darko Miladin's clincher in the final minute ensured the home side would have a two-goal lead for the second leg.

'A difficult game'
"This was a difficult game because it came in a very bad moment for us," said Hajduk coach Zoran Vulic. "Varteks did not even once endanger our goal. I cannot say that we will definitely win the second-leg match without problems, but I have an excellent squad and I believe we will play the in the final."

Finely balanced
In the second semi-final, NK Kamen Ingrad Velika and second division side NK Uljanik finished level, drawing 1-1. The visitors took a surprise lead on the hour through Joško Popovic, before Milan Živkovic equalised for Kamen Ingrad 15 minutes from time, although the top-flight team were unable to find a winning goal.
