Northern Ireland round-up: Tolan caps Coleraine comeback

Members

Jody Tolan scored a late equaliser as Coleraine FC recovered from 2-0 down to draw with champions Glentoran FC.

Striker Jody Tolan scored an equaliser in added time as Coleraine FC came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to newly-crowned champions Glentoran FC.

Glentoran take charge
In a rehearsal for the Irish Cup final on 3 May, Glentoran took the lead after 45 minutes as Coleraine full-back Stuart Clanachan failed to clear and Glentoran winger Kevin Keegan capitalised to score. It was 2-0 after 65 minutes as Glentoran central defender Gary Smyth scored with a free-kick from 30 metres.

Dramtic comeback
However, Ian McCoosh halved the deficit, and as the game moved into added time, Rory Hamill's low cross found Tolan at the far post, and he made no mistake.

Important win
At the other end of the standings, bottom side Newry Town FC gave themselves hope of avoiding relegation with a 3-0 win at home to Crusaders FC, with Graham Lawlor scoring twice. The home side opened the scoring after less than two minutes, as Lawlor converted Barry Meegan's cross, and the same player made it two after 30 minutes.

Goalless games
Meanwhile, Linfield FC earned a 0-0 draw at Portadown FC, while the game between Ards FC and Cloftonville FC and Lisburn Distillery FC and Glenavon FC both finished goalless.
