Club Brugge KV remain eleven points clear of the chasing pack after a 3-0 win against KVC Westerlo.

Club Brugge KV remain eleven points clear of the chasing pack after a comfortable 3-0 home victory against KVC Westerlo.

Verlinden on song
The visitors did create several good chances but Tosin Dosunmu found home keeper Danny Verlinden in inspired form on several occasions. Bjorn De Coninck opened the scoring in the 38th minute and Sandy Martens added a second on 64 minutes. Alin Stoica sealed the victory when he scored a 70th-minute third, six minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Anderlecht keep pace
RSC Anderlecht kept pace with the leaders, securing maximum points with a hard-fought 2-1 win against R. Standard de Liège. Goran Lovré beat Standard's Uruguayan international keeper Fabian Carini with a header in the 34th minute, before the away side were reduced to ten men when Onder Turaci was sent off in the 54th minute for a foul on Aruna Dindane. Dindane then created Anderlecht's second for Nenad Jestrovic and Gonzague Vandooren's late goal was little more than a consolation for Standard.

Icelandic flavour
Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waaslan are third, a point adrift of Anderlecht, following a convincing 5-0 home win over troubled KFC Lommelse SK. Lommel, who have been refused a professional license because of €2m worth of debts, did manage to field a team but found the going tough against their high-flying opponents. Runar Kristinsson scored twice in the first ten minutes before Marel Baldvinsson added a third five minutes shy of the interval. Kristinsson then completed his hat-trick and Arnar Gretarsson increased the tally to give the scoresheet a distinct Icelandic flavour.

Lierse concede seven
Fourth-placed K. Lierse SK had their hopes of a European place dented by a crushing 7-1 away defeat at KSK Beveren. Remarkably, Lierse took the lead through Geir Frigard in the third minute but Moussa Sambogodrew the hosts level two minutes later. Gilles Yapi Yapo and Steven Wostijn were then both on target in quick succession, before Venanace Zezetos completed a hat-trick and Yapi Yapo scored his second to confirm a another stunning victory for a side that beat KV Mechelen 6-0 last week.

Germinal Beerschot find form
Elsewhere, Belgian Cup semi-finalists KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen overcame champions KRC Genk by the odd goal in three, while K. Sint Truidense VV defeated RAA Louviéroise by the same 2-1 scoreline. Goals from Cédric Roussel and Thaddée Gorniak gave R. AEC Mons a 2-0 win at home to bottom club Mechelen and Christophe Grégoire scored the only goal for R. Excelsior Mouscron against R. Antwerp FC. In the weekend's other match, Djima Oyawole and Gunther Schepens were on target in KAA Gent's 2-1 win at R. Charleroi SC.
