Article body
Johan Mjällby kept Celtic FC's Scottish Premier League title hopes alive with a last-gasp winner against Hibernian FC in a five-goal thriller. But Rangers FC will still carry a six-point advantage into Saturday's Old Firm derby at Celtic after they claimed a 2-1 win at Livingston FC.
Hartson double
John Hartson had given Celtic a two-goal lead early in the first-half before Tam McManus scored either side of half-time to draw Hibernian level. But in the second minute of added time Swedish international Mjällby rose highest at a corner to score and keep the UEFA Cup quarter-finalists in the hunt to retain their title with the narrowest of 3-2 victories.
Klos the hero
Rangers survived a fright at Livingston to record a vital away win. Lorenzo Amoruso (8) and Shota Arveladze (16) had Alex Mcleish's side cruising to victory. However, Stefan Klos saved a penalty from Rolando Zarate and it proved to be a priceless block otherwise Eugene Dadi's last minute goal could have had a bigger impact on the title race.
Hearts in charge
Heart of Midlothian FC stayed ahead of the pack vying with them for third place and a prized UEFA Cup place next season with a 2-1 home win against Motherwell FC. Kevin McKenna's 30th-minute opener was cancelled out in the second half by Keith Lasley only for substitute Stephen Simmons to pop up 17 minutes from time to score the winner.
Joy for Dundee United
Motherwell are now only ahead of bottom side Dundee United FC on goal difference after the Tannadice club won 3-0 at home to Dunfermline Athletic FC. Craig Easton headed United into the lead before Andy Tod doubled the advantage on 47 minutes. Danny Ogunmade sealed the win in the final minute to leave Dunfermline trailing Hearts by seven points in the fight for European competition.
Deloumeaux sent off
Kilmarnock FC now appear to be the most likely challengers to Hearts after a comfortable 2-0 win against ten-man Aberdeen FC at Rugby Park. Eric Deloumeaux's 54th-minute red card gave Kilmarnock an edge and goals from Gary McSwegan and Peter Canero kept Jim Jefferies' side in fourth place just four points adrift of third place.
Novo on target
Dundee FC's impressive run of recent form continued with a 3-1 win at Partick Thistle FC. Jim Duffy's side notched their third consecutive win in fine style, with Steven Milne, Dave Mackay and Nacho Novo on target for the Dens Park club. Jamie Buchan's goal was little more than a consolation, and Dundee are now in sixth place with Partick back in eighth just three points away from the relegation zone.
