Free agent
The 24-year-old has joined the FAI Cup winners on a free transfer, having left Danish side AGF Århus last year. "John Paul comes to us highly recommended," said Derry manager Kevin Mahon.
Bench duty
McBride started his career with Celtic FC, where he made three first-team appearances, before moving to Scottish Premier League rivals Saint Johnstone FC for three seasons. "I am looking forward to playing again," he said. "I was on the bench for Celtic when we played Derry in a pre-season tournament, and I know a bit about Irish football."
Ins and outs
While McBride arrives at the Brandywell, the club have parted company with four players - Jamie Hughes, Joe Harkin, Ruairi Boyle and Gareth Mullan. Derry are the only Northern Irish team playing in the Republic of Ireland's Irish Premier Division.
