Racing robbed of Munitis

Pedro Munitis will miss the next two months of Real Racing Club Santander's season following foot surgery.

Pedro Munitis will miss the next two months of action with Real Racing Club Santander through injury. The 27-year-old forward, who is on loan from Real Madrid CF, underwent surgery this morning as a result of a fractured metatarsal bone in his right foot.

Foot pain
Munitis had been experiencing pain in his foot for several months but was hoping that the condition would improve without surgery. However, ten days after discovering the fracture, the Cantabrian player has opted for surgery as his quickest route back to full fitness.

Recovery process
The forward has been operated on by Dr José Angel Martínez Agueros in Santander and will have to wait four weeks to restart light training. It will then be a further month before he is likely to be able to play a match, meaning Munitis could feature in the closing games of the season.

Back to Madrid
The Spanish international has been a key member of the Racing squad while on loan, both scoring goals and providing assists. He has already missed the recent game against Madrid and Saturday's 2-1 victory against Real Sociedad. He will return to Madrid when his loan expires at the end of the season.
