Three more points
In a match held over from August, when Glentoran were involved in the UEFA Cup, the visitors recovered from the setback of Chris Coffee's opening goal on 17 minutes to collect another three points.
Smith double
Michael O'Neill equalised almost immediately, and Glentoran took control after the break courtesy of two Andy Smith goals - a penalty on 48 minutes and a close-range finish on 67 minutes after Philip Matthews had saved from Colin Nixon. Glentoran now have a comfortable advantage over Portadown FC whom they face at The Oval this Saturday.
Penalty decider
Elsewhere, Linfield FC consolidated their fourth place with a 2-1 win at struggling Ards FC. Glen Ferguson's 75th-minute spot-kick was the difference between the sides after David Rainey had cancelled out David Larmour's early strike for Linfield.
