Samways shame
"The player left Sevilla because he wanted to, but for me he has made a mistake," club president José María del Nido told the club's website.
No way back
Nido said that Samways had asked to be released because he had wanted to join second division side Córdoba CF, but the proposed move had fallen through before the transfer deadline expired at the end of January. The Sevilla president said he had warned the player that if he left the club he would not be allowed to return.
Hard man
The 34-year-old, who has earned himself a reputation as one of the most combative players in Spain, switched to Sevilla from relegated UD Las Palmas last summer. He joined the Canary Islanders in 1996 after spells in England with Tottenham Hotspur FC and Everton FC.
